Installation  at  St.  Jacobi  Cemetery,  Berlin

For our workshop on soil, we developed an installation at St. Jacobi Cemetery in Berlin-Neukölln in collaboration with the Prinzessinnengarten collective. The site, where active cemetery grounds meet urban gardening projects, became an experiential space for questions surrounding cycles, transformation, and our relationship to soil. Growing vegetables in former cemetery soil opened up conversations about transience, nutrient cycles, and the idea of “clean” soil. The installation was complemented by hydroponic cultures in different substrates, highlighting the ambivalence of new agricultural cultivation methods.
