FUKS-Bikes
FUKS is a free bike-sharing service in Schmalkalden based on donated bicycles. The FUKS bikes are available at four stations across the city and can be used freely after a one-time registration at the Milchhalle. The project is organised and operated by committed citizens with support from the municipality of Schmalkalden.
FUKS relies on a minimal analogue infrastructure (combination locks, no tracking of the bikes). Orange grips and orange locks make the system visible in the urban space. The interaction design focuses on strengthening analogue social networks and relationships. The overarching question is: how can we create impulses for positive, human-centred transformation processes?
